Oh, superb work with the color coordination with the blue, Jess. Likewise, that’s a lovely new shade on your nails. Figured as much with the upload schedule. An acceptable timeframe. Now to the premiere. It didn’t ALREADY get messy? Ok, sure it’s not House of the Messy level messy, but it seemed pretty goddamn messy before this episode. I take your point that we have new wrinkles in the mix. Solid start to the season. I only saw the one episode late last night. I could have done all three, but I reserve the sacrificing of my sleep with multiple episodes for Star Wars shows. (Though I would have done it for Agatha had that been on at two in the morning. Sounds like Daredevil will be on the evening as well; I would have done the same for that one too.) Good strategy of making sure that Mark is ready for the impending invasion. Needs more of the Rocky IV soundtrack if we’re going to have workout montages. Didn’t catch Donald’s hat late last night. Tis cute, yes. Perception of Rex has evolved. “Love” IS still a strong word with him, but he is an enjoyable insufferable sort, and I just love, Jess, seeing him make you laugh and smile. He and Mark had the trouble with Dupi-Paul. Lovely William scene, who did very impressing with the bowling. “If you will it, Dude, it is no dream.” Rather love your continued love for William. He had some solid advice for Mark, Eve-wise. That got awkward fast. To be fair, as I’ve said, I have zero dating or courtship experience under normal circumstances, multiversal variants thrown into the mix, I don’t even want to think about how fucking messy that would get. Of course, romance plotlines in comic book/superhero films and shows rarely speak to me, here is not much different. I know for sure there’s at least the three occasions that viscerally speak to my soul, and two of them are Batman films. The first Captain America, WnadaVision, and Agatha have a shade or two that get close. Here, another example of my being left slightly cold to the romance, but it’s still done well enough that it’s not a problem. Debbie, who along with Cecil are my favorites of this, there is continued adoration on both our parts of her. Love the scenes she had with Oliver, who was a sneaky little fibber about his powers. We both had a comment when the boy tried to sneak out. You said, “Try it. Try it with Debbie.” Me, I said, “You got to get up pretty early in the morning to fool the Mama Boss that is Debbie.” I also loved your comment on the foundation and color corrector. She probably learned or got tips from Jack Nicholson. It got me bad when Oliver called Debbie “Mom” and I went, “Hmm” and started to sob a bit. We also appreciated how she is still understandably wary of Cecil with Oliver, though Cecil being told the fair description, I love how he had the “Yeah, that tracks.” response. And she has April to rely on, question of how much we trust her remains, which I have no answer. If nothing else, I’d imagine she’s quite skilled at spinning yarns to paint an inaccurate picture of things. Ask Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest, they’ll tell you the same thing. Doc Seismic kicked up a fuss, especially with how he gathered up creatures that look like sandworms meets the bosses in Jet Force Gemini. It got bad enough for Cecil to tip his hand, leading to, I’m surmising, an overall conflict of the season. Shared thing of you are seeing both sides. You understand Mark’s aversion to what Cecil has been doing. The flip side is that he does sound too overly idealistic. This is not entirely dissimilar to history; one prominent example is Operation Paperclip. Mind you, we didn’t engage in “reprogramming” as Cecil said is done here. Nonetheless, human history is full of things like this where you have to engage in very grey acts morality-wise for the greater good, and things continuously shift. Cecil feels much like a sin eater who consumes the poison of that so that the heroes’ hands remain clean. Should be interesting how it progresses, and I look forward to discussing it more at a later time. As it is, it feels like a perfectly fine spot to leave things on for a week, but everyone’s a bunch of impatient sons of bitches, so, the perpetually aggravating multi-episode drop it is. Nice quick check-in with Allen. Funny scene of him complaining about the food, which, yeah, it is prison food, thus, it’s bad. Hell, I’d imagine on Thursday nights, they serve a wicked pepper steak. Mixed feelings on your decision to henceforth call Omni-Man “Pillow” for being a big ol’ softie, but hey, if that’s what you want to do, Jess, I will accept that decision. One other small observation. When Kate showed the ring, we both commented on the ring being over the suit. Like I said, a solid premiere, and it’s good to be back sharing this show with you, Jess. Thanks for the fun reaction.

For a while I got up at 3 AM to binge every show I was interested in, and it was a hard thing to admit I can't keep up with that anymore, though occasionally I still get obsessive enough to try it, like I'm going to do with the end of Cobra Kai next week. The comment on Operation Paperclip actually ties in nicely to something I have to say about the big guest star in this week's TNG; stay tuned for that.

Is a bit difficult at times. Reserve the energy for Star Wars, like I said, or at least the occasions when they drop at two in the morning like Bad Batch or Tales of the Empire last year. The latter show I just stayed up all night to see it. Hope it goes well for you with Cobra Kai. Look forward to what you have to say with Next Gen this week.

As much as I can't relate to your feelings about snakes, one thing that does really get to me is centipedes, so this was an interesting time. Really hoping this is it for Doc Seismic for the season, because he got old a long time ago for me. I really wonder just how much they've told Oliver about his origin, and I still have a deep suspicion that the show wouldn't cast someone as big as Calista Flockhart if there wasn't some twist to her. That paid off nicely when I thought it about Christopher Walken in Severance, let's see if this one pans out. It's a relief to see he's perfectly willing to listen to Debbie as an authority figure, since she could really use a win at this point. One way to instantly turn me off to a character is to have them be like Nero in Star Trek '09: "This bad thing that happened isn't the fault of the people who actually did it, but the people who honestly tried their hardest to stop it and failed." So I loved seeing Mark having no time for Paul, though I suspect that's going to be a running thing for the season. But at least we won't have to wait too long for wherever it's going, since the crew have acknowledged the giant mid-season break was a mistake and this one is just being released straight through.

Never have been bothered by bugs all that much. Fear of centipedes makes sense as they are rather creepy looking. Given Doc Seismic got subjected to what looked like the same thing that Raven did to Doctor Light, seems reasonable to presume that this is it for him. Good question on how much they told Oliver about his origins. Calista’s star power does suggest that there’s something to April. Assuming it’s not just a case of someone being a big fan of the show just wanting to be in it. I’m more suspicious of Debbie’s one coworker played by Cliff Curtis for the same reason, albeit there the suspicion and fear are higher given one of Cliff’s most infamous characters being on the mind. The whole “This bad thing that happened isn’t the fault of the people who actually did it, but the people who honestly tried their hardest to stop it and failed.” business can work if written well and/or they don’t push the idea of the character is meant to be sympathetic or likeable. Otherwise, yeah, such a thing tends to fall flat, Nero being a particularly bad example of it. Thus, it is refreshing that Mark cut the bullshit with Paul as quickly as it is. Haven’t caught the next episode yet, so we shall see how it goes this season.

This is a little bit different but one of the best choices I made in my reacting career was not waiting for something to premiere at night, reacting to it and then immediately editing it after. I truly don't know how I kept it up for as long as I did. I'm a morning person and I wake up early like clockwork and don't have to set an alarm. This happens if I go to bed at 9pm or 3am. I would do these insanely long nights every Sunday or whenever a show would premiere and then get just a couple of hours of sleep before my body needed to get up. It was exhausting and needless to say I was feeling like I was on death's door the next day....for multiple days in the week. I know there are definitely certain episodes that benefit from reacting in real time and getting your video out ASAP. And I'm sure my channel has taken a hit since I changed to reacting early in the morning (when I'm awake and energized) but my goodness I feel a million times better getting adequate sleep on a regular basis.

I remember how you used to do that, stay up and catch the shows when they premiered. You’re old set-up, you could tell by the lighting. Not sure if I envy you being a morning person or not. Lately I seem to have reached the age where you just keep waking up in the middle of the night. Still have my alarms set for work/occasions where I don’t want to take any chances with oversleeping. I have no objections over the change in strategy that you had; you prioritize your health and wellness. And it’s good to hear the change was beneficial to you, Jess. My problem is I can stay up all night sometimes; the mind won’t quiet. Catching shows in the dead of night helps avoid spoilers, Star Wars especially I don’t want to take the risks. Marvel it could go either way. Depends on the show. Love the early access with the Walking Dead shows where I can wake up Sunday morning, and just watch it right away, hours before it broadcasts on television. Reminds me how the pandemic did not do my sleep, or lack thereof any favors. Still got to get to the next episode of this season. Probably get to it after dinner before I go to bed for work tomorrow.
