So I guess we're just never circling back to how Yavin started out as the home of all the dumbest rebels, then? Well, I'm perfectly fine assuming they all died in a freak gasoline fight accident, then. It's just weird that they would make that reveal such a big thing when they had to know they weren't going anywhere with it. Dedra sinks further into the "find out" stage, and I'll go so far as to say this is the best scene Krennic has ever had, especially if you consider it in contrast to the dynamic he's about to have with Tarkin. Denise has revealed that when Ben does the thing with his finger...wait a minute. When Ben pulls his finger out...shit. When Ben comes up behind her...goddammit! Look, it's not a sex thing, okay? Anyway, he improvised that on the spot from a place she couldn't see him, so that shocked reaction is entirely real. And there's always the argument of the morality of that kind of messing with actors, but this one I'm pretty okay with, since I imagine she's such a pro at this point that she could pretty quickly figure out what he was doing and roll with it. And I was surprised at just how jarring it was to hear out loud that Krennic has turned the moon into what he likes to call a "Death Star." A sudden reminder that this whole thing is taking place alongside a bunch of wizards with laser swords. It was probably for the best that it took this long to get K2 in the show, since I can easily imagine him seriously messing up the tone if there was too much of him. But it's a tremendous bonus to get him now, with Alan coming back to this performance like he'd just done it yesterday. I especially love his awestruck "The Emperor was there," and his bored shuffling around is a fantastic collaboration between Alan's mo-cap work and the animators. And I hear you on the ending sneaking up on you. The episode is on the short side as it is, but even beyond that I was so invested that I'd lost all sense of how long it had been going. Just one more before we can move to Season 3, aka Rogue One. I'm finally getting to it tonight, and I very much look forward to seeing how much all this context adds.

Your pre-episode predictions were fairly spot on, I must say. Great follow up on Kleya doing the damn thing. Heert throwing his non-existent weight around makes a man say, “Ha. Heert, you dumb bitch.” The big talking point of your reaction being the big Krennic and Dedra. You can just feel the fear that Denise gives to Dedra as her entire world just collapses. Reminds us that pompous peacock though Krennic is, he is still a VERY dangerous man that you do not wish to cross. Ben commanding the scene the way he did, was great. My brother made the comment, “God that scene was all I was waiting for.” I KNEW that he would say something like that. Krennic surely was fuming over the leak of this magnitude coming about because Dedra was added to the group chat. (Or because the younger people are really that shit with email, and don’t know how cc works.) Great how Krennic jabbing his finger into Dedra’s head made you jump the way it did. Better still is how Ben came up with that when they filmed, and Denise has said her reaction was genuine. Love how even IF Krennic believed what Dedra was saying, it makes no difference. Either she’s a rebel spy, or she’s incompetent in Krennic’s eyes. His “you’ve missed your calling line.” is so great, loved that you loved it. Ben and Anton sell well that there’s some past history between their characters. You spoke well of how they are feeling the flames of the Emperor bellowing with fury, “In the time it has taken Kleya to perform the Chief Bromden move on Luthen, this security breach has fused! It is now growing faster than the speed of bloody light! It’s not going to be something that we can see from space, IT’S GOING TO BE SPACE! BRIAN COX IS GOING TO PHONE ME AND ASK FOR THE FILM RIGHTS!!” And both Krennic and Partagaz know that their asses are on the line. Has the elements of Hitler’s generals, or Stalin’s Presidium. The greater irony too being that Krennic’s trying to save face when, as we know, he won’t even have control of the Death Star as he underestimates Tarkin’s ambitions and monstrous nature. And the events of this arc give further weight to Tarkin having the plausible reasoning that the recent security breaches have laid bare Orson’s inadequacies as a military director. Dedra’s also bummed about Luthen’s death. And all after she went to such trouble to set up some nice interrogation sessions. She called in Mario Brega. Borrowed Laurence Olivier’s dental equipment. I believe she even broke out some Mauviel cookware just for the occasion. Surprising that she does throw Heert the bone. Love how you reiterate hating that Dedra is very good at what she does. Adorable, your praise is for the reveal that Luthen was quite literal about using the tools of the enemy. The one lady from Doctor Who gets a good laugh by showing admiration for the skill, and then how she gets serious again when seeing the others aren’t amused. Kleya sending out the message, “Luthen’s dead. There’s the big fucking weapon. We’re all fucked.” as you put it, gets to Wilmon. Cassian, K, and Melshi having a good time with their games is nice. Speaking of K, I had heard, I think even before season one aired, that Alan was going to return as K here. To now get the time with him is lovely. Loved your laugh over K saying about the number of rules broken. C-3PO SO had a hand in the programing of K’s personality, with some help from Chopper. Draven is a testing man, but as you say, you do see his stance. K strikes a little fear into the heart how he says the line, “The Emperor was there.” with a perfect blend of fear and reverence. See, I do hear your frustration from Kleya and Cassian not hopping to. I get largely where she’s coming from of the belief that the rebels on Yavin will likely not treat her well given their opinions of Luthen. I mean, her having the occasional tête-à-tête with Vel hinted at her not being high priority with the rebellion, factor in the sour feelings the rebel high-ups have about Luthen, her fear is probably justified. You grant that, whilst yelling at them to move. I found I was more forgiving as she’s still reeling from losing Luthen. Grief from your dad’s death, not to mention how you had to let him go, can be a very crippling agent, so I get where she’s at there. Elizabeth just sells it all so well. I say all this and I had such fear that she would die, and I was not ready for that one if it was to happen. The bad guys catch up to them, but we have K on the ball and getting in on the wonderful murderous droid action that makes the heart sing, albeit not as much as when seeing it with my favorite droid of Star Wars; he would be having a day with the “meatbags” as he likes to call them. Your response to the rather rude cliffhanger, namely how you said, “ARE YOU KIDDING!?” is a shared sentiment, as I went, “Aw, why’d th- Ahh!” One episode left. This has gone by fast given the asinine release strategy, yet they were long evenings, so I second your thoughts on that. Regardless, a lovely penultimate reaction to Andor, Jess, thank you.

Dramatic irony aside, I assume it was meant to show how fractious the alliance still was then, and by contrast, though still not perfect, they are now more of a well-oiled machine. They definitely are pining for the fjords. Denise sells well the pure fear she has upon realizing that her face is going to make quite a nice, tasty treat for the leopards. Yeah, my brother was ecstatic over this Krennic scene. He sounded like Jess with the quality 3PO scenes. Krennic, though outmatched by Tarkin or Vader, always did convey that he is someone who you don’t want to cross. Seeing that more prominently in action here is phenomenal. The accidental finger innuendos remind me of one time when Felicia Day was talking about crocheting, and how she made the opening for an item too small, she said, “Whoa, I’m getting so narrow, I can’t even keep my finger in here. That was NOT meant to be dirty!” Yeah, there is always the question of where you draw a line in the sand about messing with actors. Here, it does work, and I could see Ben asking as soon as the take was done if Denise was all right, and she probably said she was, given like you said, she likely figured out what was going on and ran with it. I loved hearing “Death Star” be said, for the reason you mention. Alan has not lost his touch, and K remains a delight. See we both loved his “The Emperor was there.” line. His violence to the Imperials is great. The cliffhangers prove very, very sneaky. I’m saving season three, aka Rogue One for if Jess wants to do a rewatch, though I might crack and watch it when I have time. Hope you enjoy your own rewatch.

I was definitely thinking of Mia Dolan's troubles with BCC. And "You missed your calling" very much had me thinking of one of Jeremy Irons' most underrated lines: "I'm not lying." "Then I would sue your face for slander." Even with all the explanations I've seen, Kleya refusing to go to Yavin still doesn't make much sense to me. If there was ever an actual choice between cake or death, here it is, but the show's ending needs a big suspense/action scene so here we are.
