It's fun to think that Timeless Child aside, the Valiard falls between Tennant's Time Lord Victorious and Smith's silly old man behind young eyes. Smith has his angry moments, but not much evil. All of that was taken out of the Time Lord Victorious and put into the Valiard.

You will be pleased to know that in the novelisation of his story, the one where Peri "dies", Philip Martin concludes with an epilogue of what she and Yrcanos are up to - he becomes an all-in wrestler (on Earth) and she becomes his manager! For an alternative follow-on about whether the Doctor visits her or not, you can watch the recent BluRay special trailer film (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dspgDvP7pA8), or read the (1990s?) comic book written by Colin Baker, "The Age of Chaos". Both trace the Doctor and Peri's interactions in subsequent decades.

But the Valyard is supposedly from the time between the Doctor's 12th and final incarnations, meaning he would come sometime after Capaldi. I love how cleverly they worded it, not to say "12th and 13th," but "12th and final." That leaves wiggle room and allows for Modern Who to have more incarnations beyond 13 without breaking canon. So, theoretically, the Valyard can still appear at any point yet. Thinking about it, what if David Tennant's 14th, so filled with anger, bitterness, and regret, ends up being the one who becomes the Valyard? The Doctor has already split off into the War Doctor and the Renegade Doctor, so it's plausible.
