Yeah, this show just got more and more chaotic as it went on. This show is more on the heavier side than we expected. Leads to you tearing up several times, which gets me pretty bad, Jess. We see the fallout of John’s death. Scary how the Hood already knew what was up thanks to the sinister voices. He looks like he’s got his own share of problems with the side effects of the hood. See he’s trying to alleviate things, such as the ice baths to combat the heat, though nothing seems to be helping with the markings getting continuously worse. Judging by how they look, I’d imagine that the markings are beginning to smell a little like almonds, which is not good. We get a glimpse of an earlier crime that you observed he had more hesitancy than he has now. Whether the lack of hesitation is due to greater experience or effects of the hood. Perhaps both, I would wager. Natalie9000 thinks that Riri is paranoid, yet we all catch the Hood’s mafia style dialogue. We both laugh and envy Natalie9000 trying to shake off the anxiety. Not that simple, like you said, though it does have some catharsis from time to time. I find Disney Villain songs are quite therapeutic in some short-term stretches. Sucks for Ezekiel getting arrested, and having his name dragged in the mud in the news. All of it besmirching the good name of Obadiah Stane, what a nice guy that he was. Interesting to see on the news, the Judy Hsu cameo, but this is in Chicago, so that tracks. We both had the moment of calling out Riri for trying to make light of Ezekiel being in prison, and to the show’s credit, Ezekiel himself has a silent look of calling her out on that. Likewise, when he read Riri, we both kind of assessed that harsh though he was, he wasn’t wrong. Now the Hood has his claws into Ezekiel, and you wait to see how that plays out. They reach a dead end with the piece of the hood, though the mood is brought up with the mat. Cree brought the mood up as well, lovely lady that she is. And great to see more of Cree as Madeline, and to meet her daughter, Zelma is a treat. I like both of them a lot. I need the two of them to have their own spin-off. Alternatively, they need to be in The Adventures of Madisynn and Wongers. Big focus of the episode is how Riri is spiraling, and how she’s getting that paranoid, and closed off. Hits the emotional high note with Ronnie. I’m with Ronnie of not minding much if Riri needed the help from Madeline and Zelma, she’s madder about being lied to, and rightfully so. I think I had a stronger reaction to Riri’s line of asking her mom that if she doesn’t wish to be lied to, then she should stop asking certain questions. With you on just getting teary eyed during that whole scene, though I had some anger toward Riri at spots, saying, “Don’t talk to your mother that way, little missy!” And she hits the low blow of accusing Ronnie of not being ok with Riri not being like her. I think she’s fine with that. I’m not like my mom in certain respects, and she’s fine with that, much though there are admittedly some spots where she’d be favorable to the greater shared interests, like I know she’d be agreeable to my being more into sports, especially football. But it’s not that way, and she’s fine with that. You wish Riri could see that with her mom. The Xavier scene was hard too. Can’t fault his reaction, especially when he justifiably calls out Riri comparing Natalie9000 to the mixtape. Loved your reaction to that scene. You speak well of Riri probably is going to need to shut down Natalie9000 by the end of the series and let her go. The question is how she is going to get to that point. But that is the question for the next episodes. Adored you being brave enough to share with us your relating to this show with your own experiences with OCD and anxiety. You spoke so well on all of it. How you say that when you have something like OCD, anxiety, and you don’t know it, you begin to rely on it. I’ve more or less known what I have, maybe not always the most well informed, but I’ve known. That said, you mention the relying on it, that is the goddamn truth, yeah. We agree on the immense difficulty of asking for the smallest of favors from people who would readily help you out. All of what you said on that topic, I don’t think I can improve on that. Great reaction, and noted on the release of the next reactions which as you say, the change in release schedule tampered with your plans, as you were unaware of the change. Makes you feel any better, I was not privy to the release schedule until days before first three episodes. The annoyance of the changing release schedule is a frustrating thing. I hated it when Ahsoka changed the release time days before the premiere which FUCKED UP my viewing strategies something fierce, and they persist in said fucking up my release schedule with the subsequent live action Star Wars. This show has had one of the stupidest release schedules ever, and it made the show feel less like a miniseries, and more just a longer movie. Now I say that last part and it was for the most part enjoyable. I’m enjoying it more sharing it with you, Jess, and when you have the subsequent reactions, next week or later, I anticipate you having continued great reactions and marvelous assessments of this show. Until then, again, thank you for the great Ironheart reaction, Jess.

There are certain unmistakable signs that you're doing something you shouldn't be, and getting asked about your dead co-worker with there being a question of which one seems like a pretty big one. And it's entirely to Dominque Thorne's credit that I remain invested in Riri and care about her overcoming her serious mental issues even as she keeps making one bad decision after another. It also helps a lot that the show keeps making clear we aren't meant to excuse any of this stuff just because she's the hero, with multiple people calling out her shit to which she knows she has nothing to say. Well, except the one time where she goes with "If my answers frighten you, you should stop asking scary questions," and I don't think she understood the point of that scene. I now have a decent idea of another part of why this show was delayed so long, as it was reported a while ago that Marvel had scrapped a show about Kamar-Taj students, and everything we get from that here feels like it was designed to provide the bare minimum of what they needed that show to establish to tie in to something down the line. But however we got it, I'm glad it's here as Cree Summer and Regan Aliyah immediately have a great dynamic fully believable as a mother and daughter who have been at this for a long time. And the irony of Penny from Inspector Gadget being the person on this show who's into magic rather than technology is not lost on me. My one complaint is that the scene ends up leaning way too hard on one of the very first writing cliches I learned to recognize and hate as a kid: "This is a super dangerous thing that you can do a lot of damage with, but I'm not going to tell you anything that might help you be safe with it, just get out." As for Ezekiel, well, right now I just feel like putting on my best Dale Gribble: "I give you ONE THING to do." I still have a sliver of hope that he'll pull out of this, but I've been burned on this exact story too many times to have any real expectations of it. And I have serious questions about that opening scene; was that really supposed to explain Parker and John's bond and let us sympathize with his loss? Because it really, really doesn't. But the episode at least ends on a super high note, with the show having the guts to make Natalie's brother finding out about this as painful as it should be. And they even open with her pointing out how Riri delaying the news will just make it worse. In fact, that raises the question of why she's running with this group at all with the technological miracles she can pull off, especially with Tony Stark not around anymore. The whole purpose is lost if you keep it a secret. Why didn't you tell the world, eh? So much more a mixed bag than the first half, which doesn't really bode well for how this is going to finish, but I'll stick it out and trust that Ryan Coogler wouldn't sign off on anything he didn't believe in.

Maybe he can hang out with Deadpool, who's just very badly burned. No idea who Judy Hsu is, but on looking her up I'm happy for the locals who get to have that pop. I've been wondering when we'd get the next real life news reporter in here, maybe Chris Cuo...oh, right. Well, maybe Don Le...no. Damn it, Wolf Blizter can't just do all of them. I have OCD, which I actually first grew to suspect by watching The Aviator, because I have that same thing where I'll get stuck saying a single sentence, which took years to learn to control. I also spent quite a bit of Monk thinking "Seriously, why is this supposed to be weird?"

You know I do believe that if you get asked about a dead coworker, and you need clarification as to which one, that should be a sign where you look at yourself in the mirror, and you think that maybe you are the danger. Dominique is indeed hitting that right balancing act of you are invested, you care, yet you are firmly against some of her actions, much though some of them do make sense. Helping, as you note is that she gets called out on shit. And clearly, she misses the point in spots what with the fundamental misunderstanding of that Jules quote, that makes me sound like Denis Leary by quoting, “Great. You know what? I think I had you pegged wrong. I don’t think you have a brain in your fucking head.” Probably accurate about the hypothetical Kamar-Taj show playing a part in the delay of this. The scenes here do have a bit of a backdoor pilot feel. Cree and Regan have that great chemistry. Couldn’t figure out any references to go with Cree given her vast body of work. See you went with the irony of the Penny of it all, which, good catch. The trope of “This is a super dangerous thing that you can do a lot of damage with, but I’m not going to tell you anything that might help you be safe with it, just get out.” can get frustrating. I can give a slight pass if the person saying that genuinely has no answers nor solutions, and even then, it can still irk as something, any idea would be helpful. Very good use of the Dale quote with Ezekiel. Figured you’d be quite upset about the development with Ezekiel in this episode. I even thought of you watching it thinking, “Oh, he’s not going to be happy with that one.”. I also was down for the plotline of, as we said, “keeping him someone trying to make his own life as a good person” so upon seeing that plotline not go down that path, I quoted The Banshees of Inisherin, by saying, “Well, there goes that dream.” The question of does the John flashback add sympathy, no, it does not. It is a high note that it ended on with Xavier having the realistic response to the Natalie9000 of it all. And they do adequately set it up by having the note of the longer the secret is kept secret, the worse the reveal was going to go. Reserve discussions about the finale until we get to it. Generally, I liked the show, sorting through some specific things about the finale. There is still my complaint about the MCU shows and films not diving into the villainous side of things as much as I want, made prominent here as it follows the excellent Kingpin and Vanessa of it all in Daredevil Born Again. But I also note that maybe that’s just a me problem.
