We have a lot of free members on here, so I thought I’d make this one public to all. The book 5 recap in book 6 was written by Donut who wasn’t privy to some info, and there was a bit of unreliable narration in there. With that in mind, who should write the recap of book 6?

I will go with the top choice. Multiple choices allowed. The choice may have major implications in the future.

Yeah that recap from Donut super sucks since the “preview” on audible just plays the beginning of the book! So many spoilers for people who just want to get a sample of the series! (I was perusing the sale and just listening to them all out of nostalgia). Recaps are great! And so many of these choices would be fantastic. I would love to hear them all!! Before voting, I was thinking Quasar and/or Cleaner Bot, but decided to click Quasar first. The fact that both of them were at 26% at the time I voted is so validating. What would Cleaner Bot's recap even look like? "On the last floor, Princess Donut came into the space tracking the most horrible smell imaginable--or so I thought. As per usual, both Carl and Princess Donut track gore into my home daily. It is dreadful. Ever since they purchased me and I spent a week getting blood out of EVERYTHING, I knew this crawl would be a miserable existence and I have so far been correct. The children, while adorable in their own wretched way, get sugar and excrement everywhere. I hope the Crawlers die soon so my suffering here may come to an end."

Quasar and Bautista are my top two. Quasar because he's privy to some more legal jargon and its repercussions on the Princess Posse. Bautista because we really didn't get to see many instances of Katia blurring the line between reality and her hallucinations, like Carl said had happened a few times. Plus, I'd love to see this floor from a perspective that was participating in Carl and Donut's shenanigans firsthand.

Quasar should be top here. He has the most view and context from the outside of what we've seen, just the basic ability that he would have to recontextualize our view and reprioritize the details from the perspective of the wider universe would unlock the most value for the reader. Given the chaos of book 7, and all the new plot threads coming into play near the end of the book that need context to digest, Quadar's perspective could be a lifeline. The cleaner bot has a limited view and will mostly comment on mess, maybe it would have behind the scenes of the mercs and the kids, but there isn't a ton of fresh news to have there. Samantha could recontextualize several things, prepping things for the perspective of the celestial ascendency, however her entire backstory has been covered in an episode of dungeon crawler world and thus her perspective could be included by anyone that saw the unredacted episode (Quasar). Not to mention her level of self focus would degrade the value of the account.

We'll get more insight from either Quasar or Cascadia. I want to know how this plays with the outside world. The Cleaner Bot? It's such a limited view and would be a very short recap! But then again... what if the recap chapter was written in some form of Universal Standardized Morse Code the crawlers don't know (except for maybe Milk or another cookbook author who learned it after their crawl?) and the Cleaner bot's sounds from every book were it trying to communicate with and maybe even warn the crawlers because it gets forced updates from its manufacturer? Of course, the translation of the code would be in parentheses or something next to the dots and dashes, ... maybe... I still think Quasar or Cascadia offers the best insight though.

Quasar has the best one liners but I'd really prefer to hear his thoughts on the universe rocking events of book 7. Appreciate she's not going to win but, for me, Zev was the right answer. She is privy to all and has interesting secrets of her own. She also never gets a chance to tell us what she really thinks ^_^

I disagree with that. Here's why. The Cleanerbot will have always heard all of their plans, and all their planning, and seen the downtime between adventures and all the discussion. It also had access to the feed when they aren't around. Maybe it reads the messages left on the bathroom walls between Carl and Team (it can access all the bathrooms for everyone in the guild hall). It could also associate each adventure with the specific mess they drag into. And the Cleanerbot can attend the Christmas party. And also maybe it goes "behind the scenes" and meets with all the other Cleanerbots from all the other teams.

Cleaner bot is a really funny option to have, but in practice not so much. The bot doesn’t really talk, so it wouldn’t be funny in the story. Plus, the cleaner bot is out of the loop on most of what’s going on. Quasar and Samantha would be much funnier in practice.

Zev and Quasar would have more inside out outside dungeon info which would be interesting. Elle would be good to get more info on what happened for here squad. Completely presumptuous. Happy to be wrong if the cleaner bot wins. But since we’ve never heard from the bot, I can only imagine that it would make a few quips about how messy the situation is. Of course, Matt can throw a monkey wrench and take it in a completely different direction, as some have alluded. Maybe it’s a former crawler, or has some other knowledge that is profound. Still, my vote was for Quasar, a known quantity, who is funny, and whose perspective could recap book 6 with a profanity laced tirade.

With Cascadia, my top choice, not only do you have someone with all of the information, but you also have someone who has JUST been made a fool. The last floor (and the dungeon as a whole) was her life’s work, and Prepotente had just broken it. She is PISSED. But she’s also privy to how messed up things are. She’s dealing now with these upstart Earthlings going down to the 9th floor in massive numbers. She’s dealing with a brand new NPC team. She’s dealing with faction leaders being vulnerable. She’s losing it, and having her bitter narration would be a fun peek at the other side.

I can’t see them doing justice in the recap without addressing what’s happening with Lucia Mar or the residuals which would be spoilers for this book.

The cleaner bot would be interesting ... but it's been out of the loop fro pretty much the entire book! I can't even remember the last time Carl got to the safe room, and it's one of the main reasons I'm anxious about this book. Carl needs like 1 minute in the fancy bed to be refreshed, but I don't recall him doing that. As such, the Cleaner bots recap would be a lot of nothing. Quasar is a more interesting choice since he can watch the streams.

I get you. I never really doubted Matt's ability to give us a convincing and entertaining functional recap from cleaner bots point of view, he's a good writer and I trust his story telling. I think its more that I want to hear as much as I can from the minor characters who I have an emotional investment in before the ride is over. I LOVE the laser focus the story has by being purely Carl's perception of events but it does mean, outside of prologues and epilogues, we never hear someone else's pov. In the long run I'm more worried about missing out on character development than jokes.

Well the cleanerbot would have probably gotten us more of the kids and Uncle Morty. Quasar, will probably set the book up better. Cascadia for the next book is the right choice Zev works for that as well. Since I think after this how it has been messed up will be a better story. Any other crawler is OK but really not as much of a need.

I think Quasar works really well for the recap. We've really only heard from him in book 7 in the note he left for Carl at the beginning of the book warning him about the Vengeance of the Daughter storyline & that since the start of Faction Wars it's been a "Class-9 shit cyclone" outside the dungeon. Quasar *may* get a quick meeting with Carl between floors, since winning faction wars has rewards that are outside of the dungeon and with Carl still owning the stock of the syndicate companies, he retains syndicate citizenship rights. (Isn't this how he got Quasar as his attorney originally?)
