A Secret That Can't Be Told (말할 수 없는 비밀)

Mr Jang didn't directly out Ji Ung but Ung is pretty smart and observant himself. Even if he doesn't directly know that Ji Ung likes Yeon Su, I think Ung is starting to piece together Ji Ung's feelings. You can see in the museum Ung outright asks him 'why are you so interested in us? It's not because of the show'. Ji Ung is such a loyal guy to Ung and his family because he feels like that all he has so I really don't think he'll ever betray or stab Ung in the back. He could've easily pursued Yeon Su first since technically he started liking her before Ung but his loyalty towards Ung runs very deep. It's more like 'if Ung can share his hobbies, his every day life AND his family with me, then I can continue hiding my feelings for Yeon su and keep taking a step back'. My heart hurts for Ji Ung, he's such a great guy 🥲

Clarifications🤗: 1. Mr jang isn’t her CEO … he is a manager at seon company and this company needed a marketing service for its new branch and youn su company is the service provider In the first episode she convinced him as a representative of his cooperative to pick her company using the “artist show idea” 2. Her manager is the outcasted person who always wants to know what others in the company are talking about but never gets the chance to 🤣 3. The show idea isn’t to work 100 hours in the venue, it’s to do it on camera and the last hours will be done in the venue… for Ung he has a sleeping problem anyway so he always works for continuous hours and dozes off for short period of time… so the show challenge seemed to be the same way he usually works

The reason for the whole 100 hrs is to showcase his skills - he needed many hrs to complete the art but the event day was very near so he recorded his whole work process to display at the event which will definitely counter the plagiarism accusations if people saw his work process

i don't think it's completely fair to put jiung's 'missed opportunity' with yeon su on his loyalty to ung. i won't say anything more since it will reveal spoilers on character traits, but you either haven't watched the entire show, are biased, or don't grasp the complexities of human emotions.

I know what you are talking about because I have watched the entire show, multiple times actually. But this was my initial reaction when I watched this episode for the first time so I was commenting from that point of view. Like you said commenting about Ji Ung further would spoil his character which I didn't want to do, so I decided to comment my initial thoughts that I had when watching this for the first time, just like Justin and Harris themselves are right now.

even up to this point, to insinuate he's being loyal or sacrificing his feelings feels wildly out of place. this episode literally showcased how he has always been jealous of what ung has always had. that's not an emotion that stems from 'loyalty'. that's a massive red flag for insecurities. his flaws are what make his character so great. to have him belittled to simply a 'self sacrificing and completely loyal and selfless character' is an insult to the writers and what they've done up to this point

lamia

let’s be real here the writers haven’t done much for Ji Ung’s character yet anyway. This episode was the first time we’ve actually seen or heard what is going on in Ji Ung’s life and up until this point I can totally see how Ji Ung’s character could be set up as a self sacrificing character for the main lead. It happens pretty often in kdramas for the second lead so it is completely valid to have that thought. However I completely stand by my point that Ji Ung’s loyalty towards Ung runs very deep and while it’s not the only reason he doesn’t pursue Yeon Su, it is definitely one of them. Yes he is insecure and jealous of Ung but he is also extremely loyal. You can envy someone while also having their best interests in your heart.

Liv

Jealousy and loyalty can co-exist. The fact that it felt like he felt both at the same time and then felt wrong/guilty about it just made the show much better.

The Secret That Can't Be Told - reference to Jay Chou's movie "Secret". A really good movie btw.
