In the hour or so I've given the game so far, I've been really enjoying it! Despite the fact that I am an absolute coward that will happily attempt to avoid any sort of scares, your writing and the information that's dropped to the player throughout (Like at the library's entrance and at the campfire when the mansion is mentioned) have unfortunately enticed me enough to want to explore them, going directly against my base instincts of please oh god don't go in there it's spooky. It turns out my appreciation for worldbuilding is stronger then my base instincts for fear, which is kinda funny. (I absolutely would die in a horror film by walking up to the monster and appreciating it's general design) Either way, it's been a fun experience so far! Hope you've been doing good, Zeekers, get some rest if ya need it, you deserve it :)

22 hours in, my fav game of yours! I love that our spoilers discord chat is figuring it out together slowly after we've all gotten stuck.

Only managed to play it a lil bit and got eaten by a table I think, reminds me of Shadowgate where half the fun is dying in weird, unexpected and occasionally bone-stupid ways (love that game to Death) The make a game for the players is certainly a different mind-set than mine, I try to keep it in mind that people who haven't made my game are going to play it at least, but maybe I'm just confusing fan service/adding stuff to try and make people play it with trying to make an enjoyable experience 💭 Really hope you can get some rest soon and feel better for having this out and enjoyed by many people! 🙌

welcome to the dark place feels really nostalgic especially cuz of the song that plays during travel once i was travelling across the tracks a little music played and i found myself remembering the old roadtrip i did with my familly in the giant plains with the giant wind turbines and it was great and the fact that no one has found a good ending yet makes it even better reminds me of isle in roblox and how people still havent discovered everything yet

Super happy for your progress! Cant wait to look into it this week

Working on a project and being “paralyzed by its imagined importance, mortified by the thought that I might not complete it” is something I relate to so much and you worded the struggle so well. I’ll definitely be keeping your mantra in mind because I find that incredibly helpful to get shit done, it’s so difficult to make actual progress while having this fear that it won’t be complete/turn out the way I envision it in my mind. Thanks for the insight as always, you’re a huge inspiration

I'm glad the hard deadline worked out well in the end. Didn't have much time to fully immerse into the game yet, but first impressions were really good. I was kinda expecting it to be a weird mashup of amateur-ish areas and more refined ones, but it actually feels like a very coherent experience. I'd say the perfectionism and pride you had with this game is a double edged sword; It caused you a lot of suffering and threatened the game's release, but on the other hand, it kept the game consistent despite the prolonged development time. I think this is in general what gives your games that personal touch that is hard to describe. Also, the audio is really well done, maybe it would be cool to see an in depth post about how you create sound effects (if that's something that can even be described, perhaps it's just intuition). Anyway, congratulations on the release and I hope that the completion of The Dark Place is actually a sign of better times approaching.

So, does this mean Lethal Company is finally getting worked on again? I'm really excited for what's to come of LC, and can't wait to see how the ending/progression is, can't wait to see new features.

I'm glad you got to finish this game after all these years, it's a well made game in my opinion, it really makes you visualize a virtual world when making decisions (which could be not the best thing if you ever keep going west on the train track and get stuck in that loop.. visions get scary). I wanted to mention something with Lethal and the player base of it. The modded community seems to have been somewhat consistent with a very slight decline which is not out of the ordinary for games like these, it still is the genre-defining game it is, but there's the High Quota (HQHQ) community I'm not sure if you're aware of or not. It's a community dedicated purely to pushing the limits of the game and achieving the highest possible quota using RNG and an immense amount of skill and consistency. In version 50 you released Artifice and Adamance, which instantly became the two new moons for those types of players to go on in order to obtain the most amount of loot, and then amplified that with the addition of the Company Cruiser in version 55 and even teased Liquidation which people thought (if I'm not mistaken here) was gonna make even higher quotas achievable, but then saw you made the decision to reduce the amount of scrap that spawns on Artifice and compensate by adding a few more pieces into the new Mineshaft interior. Now while this game is VERY obviously not a competitive game, nor were you intending it to be from what I gathered from your previous posts, there will always be a portion of gamers who do that with almost any game that comes out (A good comparison might be Lunch Lady, which, despite being much simpler, had a dedicated speedrun community.) I think the point I wanted make here would be to see the reasoning behind your reduction of Artifice scrap, and once again I know it’s not a competitive game, but the HQHQ players are often the ones who stick around the longest and push the game’s systems to new heights. Anyway, thanks again for everything you’ve done with Lethal Company, it's been truly amazing seeing how far this game has come, and very well done with Welcome to the Dark Place! Edit: Side note, I didn't press shift before enter and posted half of this statement on accident.. that's the removed comment from mine lol. Also forgot to mention, v73 dine is very wacky but in a super fun and funny way, the fact that 200+ items spawn is hilarious and sparked a small flair in the HQHQ community after not really wanting to play versions 60 and up. Off topic, last thing, I love v70+ Assurance. The bird and bee spawn chance on such a small moon make it so hilariously intense.

I would also like to add that it is the HQHQ players who know the game's features and loopholes better than anyone else.

Do you see yourself adding more 3d segments to the dark place?
