The writers did it again: In Episode 5, Lucas makes an accusation that spoils the entire foundational premise of this series, and the incremental reveal of that premise doesn't begin until Episode 6, and continues through Season 4. But meanwhile, the writers are sneakily winking at us every chance they get. ;) What's even more brilliant about the writing is that most of the events of this show end up having secondary and tertiary functions later in the show. For example, the incident at the quarry has some very important primary functions, such as demonstrating that Mike is willing to literally die for Dustin, and also how profoundly intertwined Mike and Dustin and El's destiny has become. But there's also a secondary plot-related function of that incident that appears in the next episode...
