LETHAL WEAPON (1987) FULL LENGTH MOVIE REACTION - WATCH ALONG

Comments

Glad you guys enjoyed the film. It only gets better from here.

James Forrest

Haha glad you guys enjoyed this :) Great film with a lot of iconic moments and a sharp, fascinating script. As you guys said, there's something great about the 80's stuff which you rarely get in the modern action film. You understand who these characters are and that makes you care what happens to them. There is a movie you've got to see, and it's not from the 80's but it has that depth, and amazingly you'll see it from both sides of the law; Michael Mann's Heat, it's a masterpiece. The way you guys jump in on character and motivation, you'll love it.

TheMediaKnights

We've got that on our list! A bunch of you guys have been suggesting Heat and seeing the heavy hitters that are involved we will definitely be watching that pretty soon!

TDWanders

Hmm…I’d have to say Lethal Weapon 3 but you can’t go wrong with either movie.

Blaze118

Oh my. First of all, loved the reaction and I'm glad you both loved it. But you realize what you've done right? You've watched the 1st film. Now you need to watch the other 3. It's the law!

Stephen Knueppel

Air America was mentioned in the movie and made me remember that it is also a 1990 movie of the same name staring Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr about the secret operations during the Vietnam war. You should add it to your list.

TheMediaKnights

Oh we’re so happy to watch all of these! First one was such a great time and now all we’ve been hearing is how great the next ones are as well! 😄

Hey there! I love these kinds of movies and would have loved to watch it with you, but I cant. For some movies the speed is a little diffrent between the USA and world version of it, due to PAL. Youtube offers a speed adjustment that has a "custom" setting. If I set it to 105% or 95% I can offset the speed very nicely, needing a correction to stay somewhat in sync only every few minutes (pause the quicker stream for a second or two). But the streaming service you are using offers 125%/75% as the lowest step and that doesnt work. So if I wanted to watch the movie with you I'd have to correct 2seconds on every minute of footage. That isnt something I can enjoy. Anyway, the problem only exists on some older movies so its no big deal

TheMediaKnights

Hey! Thank you for letting us know about this. To be quite honest with you I had no idea this was still a thing in the streaming era. We wish we could upload it to YT since it is much easier on our end but what ended up happening is that some videos would “leak” which is not really fair for those of you who are paying to watch these. Are the versions for these movies different even when using popular streaming services? Or is it a problem when you use physical media? We’ll do as much research as we can about this subject since we do want everyone to have a good experience while watching. Thankfully you mentioned it doesn’t happen with all movies.

I baught the video on Amazon. I *think* it happens only in the following scenario: -a movie was released in PAL and NTSC -it got a translation into other languages and the soundfile coresponds to the movie speed in PAL -I have to buy the movie on Amazon, and Amazon has contry specific offerings (aka if I log in from the USA via VPN I still get redirected to my countrys version of Amazon because it recognizes my account) -I get the the international version that has the speed that fits the international soundfiles, even if I change to the english version (likely bc Amazon would have to pay for each version) I watch movies in English all the time bc I hate translations since I know how much they change the meaning. But it doesn't change anything in this case. I can remember it happening with Netflix bc I can just VPN to the USA and watch nthat version. I am unsure if it is a problem on Disney+. BTW if you didnt see it, watch "Free Solo". Just google it there cant be any spoilers

So true, 2 is my favorite though. We get some character development that I think you'll like for rigs.

TDWanders

I agree. The 2nd film was pretty great. I had a hard time choosing.

Ryan Towell

you gotta finish the series.. all of them are really good and fun.

I think this is one of, if not the, best performance of Mel Gibson's career. The emotional depth, the physicality...perfection. The final fight scene is nuts/over the top, but when you consider that Joshua was a 'cop killer' at this point in the film, it makes some sense that they would allow it to unfold without interupting/arresting the guy. The sequels are OK, but this first movie is just so good. Quentiessential 80s action.
