We had this protagonist-hunter guy set up a little while ago so it didn't exactly come out of nowhere, but I was really enjoying this story *because* the protagonist is a nobody and tries to avoid attention completely. I was hoping he'd just continue to quietly grow in the background while avoiding events and continue to be overlooked by this guy. Everything happening around him but never really to him - in this world at least. I hope he doesn't blow up in to the unbeatable chosen one that everyone in the sect looks up to lol

hm hm hm~ well, at least Old Grandpa put enough of the fear of God in him that he's not going to go turn MC into paste... not that i think he can take his soul while he has soul ward, but he doesn't leave it on all the time, so... but it hardly matters. MC has jumped from tier nothing to tier 7 in *months*. if this guy gives him a year, he'll totally be uncontrollable. is stellar realm one over qi condensation or two? edit: found it! it's qi condensation -> elemental realm -> stellar realm -> life realm -> civilization realm so he will still be waayyy under level to deal with him, but hopefully the blue sun academy will make him a tough nut to crack.

I mean, it's well written - (Wouldn't be paying for a story I didn't enjoy!), it just felt, for the 200 chapters up to now, like the protagonist living and growing in the *background* was this story's entire unique selling point. IDK how I feel about people seeing his abilities and living, and villains latching on to him specifically.

It seems like by accepting himself as part of the world, with him saying he is the body/memories he transmigrated into, he allowed the meta narrative’s plot hooks into himself. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of these meta elements, though. I find them to be the weakest part of the story.

Yeah. I'm worried it might suddenly devolve in to young masters trying to face slap mc because he has a good reputation, strong villains targeting mc specifically, mc conviniently getting a power-up that works perfectly for X exact situation right before it happens, proposals and political pressure, endless tournaments, mc participating in sect conflicts, etc. Like nearly every other story of this type. It's been doing genuinely excellently at consciously steering away from these tropes only to now seemingly dive in headfirst to several. The current big bad having no idea MC existed right under their nose was a *genius* move that was managed really well and mc doing all of their showing off in private or in other realities was great too. Something that really set this story apart. It's all been so refreshing. To seemingly throw that idea away 200 chapters in by revealing mc's abilities to not just one but several characters at once without mc even trying to explain it away as a one off treasure or something seems beyond bizarre but I guess I'll see what Kynan has planned. The slightest hint of this story leaning in to any of those kind of things is just scary when it not doing so is why it's so good in the first place though. Please for the love of all that is holy Kynan if you are reading this I love your story but do not make the mc the center of everything going on. I might actually scream the second we get a meeting of sect elders discussing how important/promising MC is like every other xianxia. I don't want other sect members aspiring to be as powerful as mc. I just want things to continue as they have been doing absolutely excellently until now with everyone ruining around doing plot things and mc skilfully avoiding getting involved with his master who seems more or less determined to do the same aaaa

Yeah this is one of the weaker points of this story; the masked guy appears omnipotent but as you say somehow hasn’t taken over the world or been discovered and squashed.

Well I’m just going to say it this book is doing everything great I love how the mc and main bad guy are both using plot hooks to their advantage and while I would have enjoyed the mc staying under the radar a little longer in any book like this you have to accept that eventually the mc is going to show off that eventually he’ll reach a realm where just reaching the realm is impressive eventually he’s going to become known and well this stuff happens but so long as it’s handled as well as everything else about this series I think this shift in the third book will be handled well

The MC has already been struggling to remain subtle given his rapid power advancement. I think that the MC’s struggle to fade into the background is a little more realistic this way. After all he has the Duel coming up and I think this is a better ‘pre-demonstration’ of his power increase than suddenly in the duel.
